Vasco Branco

Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Interaction Design), 1997, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. Director (U.Aveiro) of the Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture [ID+].

Currently he is Associate Professor at the Department of Communication and Arts of the University of Aveiro where he was one of the first responsible for developing the area of Design (bachelor, masters and PhD).

He was member of the evaluation panel for Portuguese PhD grants (FCT) in Architecture, Urbanism and Design and belongs to the review team of the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) in the area of design.

Represents the University of Aveiro as vice president of ADDICT (Agency for the Development of Creative Industries). He is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Academy of Design and member of the Editorial Advisory board of some international magazines in the area of Design (The Design Journal,The ‘Radical’ Designist: Journal of Design Culture, DISEÑO + I).
